1954

1975

Sheikh Rashid Tower

The original design is 27 stories high. Sheikh Rashid adds 12 floors and a mast to outdo rival projects and build the tallest structure around.

1976

Year Of Staircases

Staircases are added to each corner after the US film Towering Inferno raises awareness about fire safety in tall buildings.

1979

Heralding the start of Dubai’s Global Rise.

Queen Elizabeth II opens the tower, which is painted white to enhance it.

1983

Beyond Sheikh Rashid Tower

Dubai World Trade Center grows to include a separate semi-permanent exhibition space.

1987

A more permanent prominence

Halls 1 and 2 open in a major expansion of the permanent facilities available on-site.

1989

An exclusive feel for the Elite

Sheikh Hamdan opens the exclusive World Trade Club on the 33rd floor to mark the tower’s 10th anniversary

1996

DWTC becomes a world-class venue

Halls 4-8 open, adding an estimated 300,000 sq. ft of the exhibition room.

2001

18 Years

Construction begins on the Trade Centre Complex as Dubai prepares to host the prestigious 2003 IMF/World Bank Meeting.

2003

The unstoppable Progress

The new look DICEC opens, a concourse connects Halls 1 and 2, the Convention Tower, Novotel and the Ibis Hotels open. IMF attracts over 15,000 delegates

2009

The largest events venue in the Middle East

Construction starts on a project to increase total exhibition floor space to 1,000,000 sq.ft securing DWTC’s position as the largest vents venue in the Middle East

2016

The birth of the experiential agency of DWTC

With new halls adding a total of 166,800 sq ft of event space, DWTC evolves to open their own experiential arm to deliver, produce, manage, curate and design world-class events.

DXB Live has demonstrated its conformity towards ISO 20121:2012 - Event Sustainability Management System, after a rigorous assessment by Gabriel Registrar team of Auditors and Event Industry Experts. DXB Live has received the prestigious ISO 20121:2012 Standard, which reinforces the company’s continual commitment to managing the event, with a particular control for the environment, economic and social issues. The Certification award was presented to Mr. Khalid Alhammadi, Vice President of DXB Live.
